ABOUT US
OUR IMPACT
In FY2026, 843 children found a safe place to heal at the Tree House. Every service was free, and every one was made possible by a community that shows up for children.
A Child Tells their Story Once
At the Tree House, the forensic interview, medical exam, therapy and family advocacy all happen in one child-friendly place. A child can tell their story once, to people trained to listen, and begin to heal. We are the only Child Advocacy Center serving Montgomery County, accredited by the National Children’s Alliance since 2008. About 9 in 10 of the county’s child abuse forensic interviews take place here, and every service is free, in English and Spanish.
Our Impact in FY2026
The Tree House grows because the need in our community grows, and because our community shows up for children. Every service was free. To see our services, impact, and stewardship in full, read our annual reports.

Finding Her Voice
Details changed to protect privacy.
When a young girl came to the Tree House after a report of abuse, our first job was to help her feel safe. With care from our medical team, therapists and family advocates, she found the courage to share her story and even testified in court.
When she moved in with a new family, the Tree House stayed beside her and her caregivers through every step of that transition. By the end of the school year, she had graduated from trauma therapy. Her story is a reminder of what is possible when a child is believed, protected and surrounded by people who refuse to give up on her.

Finding His Strength
Details changed to protect privacy.
The signs that a child is hurting are not always visible. For one young man, they looked like anger, withdrawal and hard words about himself. When his family learned he had been abused, he came to the Tree House for a forensic interview and care from our medical team.
Through trauma-focused therapy, he learned that his feelings were real, that what happened was not his fault, and that he had a voice in his own healing. He found the courage to take part in court and to share his story with his parents, who answered with love and support.
