GET INVOLVED
Ways to Give
Every child who comes to the Tree House gets help for free. That is only possible because of people like you. There are many ways to help a child heal, and every one of them matters.
Ways to help
At the Tree House, medical care, forensic interviews, therapy, and family advocacy all happen under one roof, so a child can tell their story once and begin to heal. Every service is free, because we never want money to stand in the way of a child's healing.
Your support keeps that door open. Whether you give once, give every month, attend our signature event, host a drive, or share our work with a friend, you help a child feel safe again. Here are the main ways to get involved.
Your gift helps to pay for the real things a child needs to heal. For example, $47 can cover the round-trip transportation costs for a child to visit The Tree House. Because we keep our overhead intentionally low, 100% of donations go directly to our programs.
Give
Our signature event, Champions for Children, brings our community together to celebrate the people and organizations who help children heal. The next event is September 24, 2026 at Glen Echo Park. Buy a ticket, sponsor a table, or share the event with a friend.
Attend Champions for Children
Other ways to help
You do not have to write a check to make a difference. You can host a snack, coat, or book drive, donate items children need, organize a group project, or simply spread the word about our work. Because of the sensitive nature of our services, we are not able to host on-site volunteers, but there are still many ways to pitch in.

Champions for Children
About the event
Champions for Children is our signature event. It brings our community together for one evening to celebrate the extraordinary individuals and organizations who support our work, and to raise the funds that keep every Tree House service free for the children and families who need it.
This is our second annual Champions for Children. Join us on September 24, 2026 at Glen Echo Park.
When you attend or sponsor, you do more than enjoy a special evening. You help pay for therapy, forensic interviews, medical care, and family advocacy, all at no cost to families. Because we keep our overhead intentionally low, 100% of donations go directly to our programs.

This year's honorees

There are many ways to take part. Buy a seat, reserve a table, or become a sponsor and put your name behind a child's healing. Sponsors receive recognition before, during, and after the event, and every level helps keep our services free.

Other ways to help
How you can help
We are grateful for every person who wants to pitch in. Because of the sensitive nature of our work, we are not able to host on-site volunteers, but there are still many meaningful ways to support the children and families we serve. Many supporters organize their own drives and projects, and we are happy to help you get started.
A simple way to begin is to host a snack, coat, or school supply drive. You can also shop our Amazon Wish List and have items sent straight to us.

Donate items children need
Children come to us for several hours at a time, and the right small comforts make a hard day easier. Here are the kinds of items we use most.
Snacks and drinks
Bottled water (16.9 fluid ounces or smaller), real-juice boxes, boxed milk (chocolate is a favorite), applesauce, and chips.
Books
Books in excellent condition for boys and girls of all ages, with teen and preteen titles especially needed. Popular series and books in Spanish are very welcome.
Therapy supplies
Blank hardcover journals with unlined pages, scented therapy dough, "What If" card sets, and similar calming items used in therapy.
Medical supplies
Pregnancy tests, antibiotic ointment, therapy dough, and weighted stuffed animals.
Comfort and everyday items
New pajamas, underwear, and socks (teen sizes especially), full-size hair products for all hair types, new stuffed animals, and gift cards to local or online stores for food, clothing, or children's needs.

Host a drive or group project
Looking for a project for your team, class, faith group, or scout troop? Here are a few ideas that directly help the children we serve.
- Put together blank, unlined journals.
- Build "Emergency Therapy Toolkits" with bubbles, journals, art supplies, sand, playdough, stress balls, or kaleidoscopes.
- Collect small giveaway prizes, games, and toys.
We are glad to talk through the details and help your group make the biggest difference.

Spread the word
Some of the most valuable help costs nothing at all. Tell your friends, family, and coworkers about the Tree House. Share our work on social media, talk with local businesses about supporting us, or represent us at a community event. The more people who know that free, healing-centered help is here, the more children we can reach.

What our team says
"The Tree House is a special place. We first meet families at a moment of severe stress, when they are going through some of the most difficult things a family can experience. Over time, we get to know all about who they are and what they like, and we get to see joy and excitement returning to their lives."
Karen Campion, Supervisory Therapist
