HOW WE HELP

What We Do

When a child has been hurt, healing should not be one more hard thing. At the Tree House, medical care, forensic interviews, therapy, and family advocacy all happen under one roof. A child can tell their story once and begin to heal. Every service is free.

How We Help

The Tree House Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery County, MD brings together everything a child needs to heal in one safe, child-friendly place. Instead of sending families from office to office, our team works side by side under one roof. That coordinated care means less stress for the child, fewer times they have to retell what happened, and a clear path forward for the whole family.

Every service below is free of charge and available in English and Spanish. We never want money to stand in the way of a child's healing.

All services are free

Every service at the Tree House is provided at no cost to families. We do not bill your insurance. From the first phone call to the last therapy session, families never receive a bill from us.

This is possible because of our community. Support from Montgomery County and from donors keeps our doors open and our services free, so a family can focus on what matters most: their child's healing.

In our most recent fiscal year (FY2025), the Tree House served 809 children and provided 6,824 sessions of care. (Source: Tree House Annual Report 2025.) Behind every number is a child who found a safe place to heal.

Who provides care

Our medical team includes a board-certified child abuse pediatrician and a registered nurse who specialize in examining and caring for children who have experienced abuse. They are part of our regular, full-time staff, so families meet people who know this work well and who are part of the same team that supports your child.

You can reach the pediatrician or nurse at any time, even after your visit, with questions about your child's health and well-being.

In our most recent fiscal year (FY2025), the Tree House provided 476 medical sessions.
